Penguins at Peninsula Valdes - Patagonia Adventure Trip Travel to Peninsula Valdes to visit this marine wildlife sanctuary for 4 days / 3 nights. Whale watching from June to December, sea lions, sea elephants, lots of bird species and the biggest colony of penguins in South America over the Atlantic Ocean. We will be able to see penguins, sea lions, sea elephants, whales and killer whales according to the time of the year. Also, we will meet the legacy of pioneers that came from Wales and established the colony of Gaiman. Then transfer by bus to Comodoro Rivadavia or by flight to El Calafate to meet the group to continue with our adventure travel trips in Patagonia.

Itinerary
Day 1: Trelew Airport – Puerto Madryn
We arrive to Trelew flying 1200 km/745 miles to the south from Buenos Aires. We transfer by Bus to Puerto Madryn, where we spent the day enjoying this historical town, established on 1886 as a railway junction, attracting immigrant workers that flooded in from Europe as the railway network expanded. Both Welsh and Italian language and traditions are still very strong here and keep their influence in this town.

Day 2: Puerto Madryn, Peninsula Valdes Whales at Peninsula Valdes - Patagonia Adventure Trip
After breakfast we drive to Peninsula Valdes, a paradise for marine wildlife lovers with World Heritage status. We start our journey visiting the Interpretation Centre, located in the Florentino Ameghino Isthmus, from where we have a panoramic view of both gulfs, Nuevo and San Jose. We continue to Puerto Piramide, a small village on the south shores of Peninsula Valdes. Here you may enjoy a whale watching boat expedition (optional) to observe the magnificent Southern Right Whales that remain in the area from May/June through December. We continue our visit to Caleta Valdes, a natural canal with great variety of marine and terrestrial wildlife; like a sea lion colony. Then we enjoy the landscape at Punta Delgada lighthouse. We continue to the Salinas Chica and Grande, the deepest depressions in South America (below the sea level), and to Isla de los Pajaros (Birds’ Island) with their impressive birds variety. We return around 6 PM to Puerto Madryn.

Day 3: Punta Tombo Magellan Penguin Colony. Gaiman.
Penguins at Peninsula Valdes - Patagonia Adventure Trip
We drive today to Punta Tombo, the biggest continental breeding colony of Magellan penguins between September and March. There you will have the opportunity to walk along the park trails and see over 200 thousand live nests, and more than 600,000 penguins in their breeding season. If this tour is taken in any other time of the year, we will go to Punta Loma, where we will watch the colony of sea wolves. In the afternoon we visit Gaiman, a picturesque small town settled by Welsh immigrants in the 1870s, and that still maintains much of its original architecture and traditions. We may enjoy a delicious Welsh tea with pastries at one of the traditional tea-houses of Gaiman (optional). In the evening we return back to Puerto Madryn.

Day 4:Transfer to Puerto Madryn Bus Station or to Trelew Airport

After breakfast we transfer you to the Bus Station, if you are going by bus from Puerto Madryn to Comodoro Rivadavia, where you meet at 2 PM the group to continue our overland adventure traveling the Route 40; or to Trelew Airport, if you are flying from Trelew Airport to El Calafate, where you meet at 7 PM the group to continue our adventure trekking at El Chalten or Paine.
